What is supurge oyasi?

Supurge Oyasi is the Turkish name for a popular street food in Turkey called “Lokma”. It consists of small deep-fried dough balls, similar to donut holes, that are soaked in a sweet syrup and often served with cinnamon or sesame seeds on top. It is believed that the dessert originated in the Ottoman Empire and has been a popular sweet treat in Turkish culture ever since. Today, lokma are sold by street vendors and dessert shops all over Turkey and have become a popular dessert option in other Middle Eastern countries as well.
